Plastic Surgery Grad Gifts: Is It Smart?

Plastic surgery is becoming a grad gift trend and some experts are questioning the wisdom behind it.

Young girls want breast enhancement procedures done before their bodies have finished maturing. Often they don’t realize their bodies are still changing and breast implants can have effects they may not have fully considered.

For example,many breast implants will have to be replaced every ten years and the young mothers may not be able to breastfeed.

Nose jobs, or rhinoplasty, is also popular with some young people graduating from high school. But is a nose job what they really need?

Are older patients happier with plastic surgery? Yes, according to a new study.

Why? One reason may be people over 50 are more realistic about what plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures can do for them. Younger people may expect more and could become disappointed when plastic surgery doesn’t fulfill their fantasies.

That’s another reason why patients and their doctors should take the time to think through what they want and exactly what can be done.

E-care will probably be the way health care will be delivered in the near future.

What is it?

E-health, or e-care, is the new technology where doctors and health care professionals can monitor patients in real time, cutting down on office visits. It will be very valuable for the elderly and chronically ill because it will better help keep them in touch with their doctors who know their conditions.

Conditions can be monitored through sensors and by computers.

How will e-health benefit plastic surgery patients?

Patients need extra monitoring during the recovery process. Having your doctor’s office coming to you instead of you going to it will help many people who have had plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures. This will help monitor complications.

First Full Face Transplant Revealed

The first full face transplant patient’s MRI has been revealed and the complex 24-hour surgery that involved a team of 30 in Barcelona appears to have been a success.

The young man who received the first full face transplant was a farmer who accidently shot off large portions of his face with a shotgun five years ago. Since then, he has had difficulty breathing, swallowing and talking.

This surgery will give hope to thousands of disfigured patients who have a low quality of life because of their facial injuries and disfigurements.

Another important factor for face transplants is the artistic ability involved. Plastic surgeons who specialize in such delicate surgery are also artists and that is one of their talents which is often overlooked by the public.

Partial facial transplants have been performed over the last several years, but this is the first full transplant of a person’s face.

Plastic surgery for teens: should they?

They know all too well that young teens are often influenced by the material and the physical. What they see in the media may not actually be real. They are being exposed to beauty goals that are all but impossible to reach.
