Donda West Cosmetic Surgery Bill Vetoed
By PSAuthority on Sep 29, 2008 in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery
The Donda West Cosmetic Surgery Bill was vetoed recently by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The bill would have made it mandatory that anyone who receives cosmetic surgery have a physical first. The patent’s medical history should also be up to date and given to the cosmetic surgeon before surgery can be performed.
What’s interesting about this bill is the fact that there isn’t much to it.
Frankly, I thought all plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons would know the physical conditions of their patients before performing surgery. That seem only good sense to me.
But the bill, which sailed through the California legislature, was written primarily because of one tragic cosmetic patient who died from surgery complications.
That was rapper Kanye West’s mother Donda, who died after having breast reduction, a tummy tuck plus a liposuction last November.
Another point I might mention is three procedures seem like quite a bit to have done at one time.
And I wasn’t aware that another bill going through the California legislature will give dentists and oral surgeons the right to do facial cosmetic procedures. I think that’s frightening.
As with anything you buy or consume you should do your homework in order to know exactly what you are getting into.
Most reputable cosmetic and plastic surgeons already review their patients’ histories and medical conditions before performing any procedures.
