Plastic Surgery Tax Ax?
By PSAuthority on Dec 29, 2009 in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery tax may get the ax after all.
That’s good news for now. The proposed 5% tax was thrown out of the Senate version of the health care bill before Christmas.
But tanning beds will be taxed as of July, 2010.
Does this mean plastic surgeons and their patients are off the hook? No, it could come back with the final version. Everyone needs to remain vigilant.
This tax would have been bad for the industry because cosmetic surgeons have managed to hold costs down. Patients seek cosmetic and plastic surgery to improve themselves and often pay out of their own pockets. A 5% tax could have stopped many from electing to have such procedures.
