Is plastic surgery art?

Many patients and doctors think so, although the public may still need some convincing, according to art critics.

However regardless of what the art world thinks, it has always been generally understood plastic surgeons must have some artistic abilities.  After all, they visualize and sculpt.

A French artist, Orlan,  is having a show to prove that plastic surgery procedures and art can  merge.

Orlan thinks plastic surgery procedures can also be empowering for women, since they have most of the surgeries.

Still the debate continues as other unique “art shows” of doctors’ portfolios are beginning to appear on and off the Internet.
